The essence of what I do:
My work resides at the intersection of creative writing and editorial strategy, with a focus on crafting clear and compelling stories. I bring my experience in anthropology, ethnographic research, and communications to develop content that resonates — from creative copy to marketing materials. Storytelling is a powerful way of connecting. Whether you are looking to engage with your audience to make your service or product stand out, or simply to refine existing editorial materials, I deliver tailored communication strategies to meet your goals. From south to north:
I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil, and from the time I was a little kid I was driven by a curiosity about people and places. As a teenager I lived in Cambridge, England, for six months- where I learned the pleasure of commuting on a bicycle and reading a book under a tree. During my time living in Europe, I walked 3/4 of the Camino de Santiago and tirelessly visited museums.
In 2007 I moved to Vancouver, Canada, where I earned a degree in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. Along the way, I became interested in the spaces where community, culture, and sustainability intersect—working on projects in urban agriculture, food security, and Latin American migration.
During my masters degree I studied the experiences of women domestic workers defending labor rights in Brazil. To better understand their daily lives and work conditions I conducted qualitative research grounded in feminist theories of intersectionality and affect. This research exposed the forms of historically derived oppressions, as well as strategies of resistance that arise to contest the exploitation of their labour, contributing to discussions on how structural inequalities, based on gender and race, influence labour market segregation and reinforce the undervaluation of care and domestic work.
For the love of picture books:
At Mama Reads— my children’s literature consultancy, you will find artistic, inquisitive, and engaging picture books. I connect with writers, illustrators, publishers, and educators, to expand the reach of these books beyond their original country and language of publication. Through reviews, literary translation (Portuguese–English), feature interviews, and international rights representation, I showcase soulful stories, as well as the creative minds behind their making.
Creative writing projects:
I’m currently working on a creative non-fiction manuscript exploring trauma and dislocation. I also write poetry and bits of prose- a practice that deepened after attending Susan Musgrave’s writing workshop Write from your Heart. You can read about this experience here. Susan etched this notion in my soul: there always are words, you just have to find them. And so each day, I observe the living world around me, I walk barefoot as much as possible, and I engage with others- searching for those words, inspiration, and stories. I have a few kids’ books projects in the works as well- more on those soon.
Where on where you can find me:
I divide my time between San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and Vancouver, Canada—moving from the high desert to the coastal rainforest, always with a deep commitment to fostering connection and creative collaboration.
